“I don’t see any difference in the behavior of NATO and of Hitler. NATO wants to erect its own order in the world, and it needs Yugoslavia simply as an example: ‘We’ll punish Yugoslavia, and the whole rest of the planet will tremble...’”

— Alexander Solzhenitsyn
world-renowned Russian author

Hidden Agenda:
U.S./NATO Takeover of Yugoslavia

From the International Action Center:

This book is a follow-up to the extremely powerful and informative NATO in the Balkans.

Hidden Agenda: U.S./NATO Takeover of Yugoslavia tells the truth about U.S. and NATO strategy in the Balkans. It exposes the reality and scope of the war crimes committed by the U.S. and NATO during and after their war against Yugoslavia.

This new work contains writings by over 30 of the courageous and articulate voices who opposed U.S./NATO war crimes during and after the bombing of Yugoslavia. In its 360 pages, the book details the media campaign that hid the brutal destruction of Yugoslavia in the NATO war. Twenty pages of photographs show the real damage to civilians and infrastructure.

There is also a historical record of the many Tribunals organized by activists throughout the United States and Europe which found NATO guilty of war crimes. The war crimes are listed and explained in great detail in this book.

Hidden Agenda is a tool for students and activists to use to understand and explain the real story about the U.S/NATO war and occupation. It is the only historical record in English documenting NATO’s illegal war in Yugoslavia. Its contents must be known worldwide. And the truth about the brutal reality of NATO occupation must be told.

Washington and NATO strategists invoked humanitarian principles to justify their inhuman war. But they practiced the ruthless divide-and-conquer tactics used by empires since the days of Imperial Rome.

Behind the facade of concern for self-determination, they sliced away most of the republics of Yugoslavia, one by one, through economic pressure, political threats and, finally, outright warfare.

This book presents evidence gathered by dozens of nongovernmental hearings in 1999 and 2000 that NATO countries engaged in a decade-long conspiracy to foment war in Yugoslavia in order to split it up.

Now NATO has military bases all over the Balkans, Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Central Asia. They are the Roman legions for Western transnational corporations and Big Oil.

In the 40+ essays presented here, leading anti-war activists and analysts from many countries take up the Hague Tribunal, the occupation of Kosovo, media lies, war crimes and the blatant illegality of NATO aggression. Former U.S. Attorney General Ramsey Clark writes on “Blaming the victim.” Former Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic, demonized in the Western press, stands up to the NATO tribunal based in the Hague.

Excerpt from the chapter “Abolish NATO and Its Court”, by Sara Flounders:

“The United States may have the world’s largest military machine but ultimately this government cannot control the forces it has unleashed. There is a rising global movement against this ruthless competition and spiraling economic chaos. Six months after NATO’s bombing of Yugoslavia a new movement against corporate globalization was born in Seattle. Hundreds of thousands of young activists have focused on the brutal policies imposed by the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and the trade agreements such as NAFTA and the FTAA, and the World Trade Organization. This is a movement outraged at sweatshop conditions, prisons, environmental devastation and capitalist chaos.

“We are confident that the material published in this book will contribute toward the judgment of history. NATO means continuing war, crisis and colonial domination. Here at home NATO’s existence means greater poverty and repression. This book is our effort to develop an understanding and to plant seeds of resistance. Resistance is needed, resistance is possible. The new movement against corporate globalization has shown that resistance will grow.”

WARNING — this site has gruesome photos that show what American cluster bombs have done to human bodies.

Every victim was somebody’s daughter, somebody’s son, somebody’s brother, sister, wife, husband, mother, father, grandfather, grandmother. Each one was somebody’s friend.

They could just as well be your loved ones.

If you’re not a media-numbed moron, these photos will be deeply disturbing to see.

But these photographs constitute a public record of gruesome American war crimes — a record which our truly EVIL American leaders and military will NEVER be able to deny or live down.

These victims are the future of America’s government and military.

PSYOPS is a highly specialized unit of the military whose personnel are trained in the production and dissemination of US government propaganda, including on television and radio programs.”

“Three PSYOPS personnel also worked at the Washington DC headquarters of NPR, a publicly-funded radio network. They worked for periods ranging from six weeks to four months from September 1998 through May 1999 on such programs as All Things Considered and Morning Edition.
